About Me

Kathy Strobos is a writer living in New York City with her husband and two children, amid a growing collection of books, toys and dollhouses. She previously worked as a lawyer before switching careers to write romantic comedies full-time and get in shape. Born and raised in Manhattan, she loves writing about New York City and the accomplished heroines who live and fall in love there, amidst its vibrant energy and the aroma of homemade chocolate chip cookies. She is the author of A Scavenger Hunt for Hearts, Partner Pursuit, Is This for Real?, Caper Crush, My Book Boyfriend and Love Is an Art. She is still working on getting in shape.

What are some of your favorite parts of writing romantic comedies?

I love writing witty banter and disasters that end up creating the partnership that fuels a great passion, all set in my native New York City.

I hope to make you laugh out loud like a great Sophie Kinsella novel and to close the book with a happy, fizzy feeling. Writing a good scene gives me a joyful buzz.

Are your books open door or closed door?

Closed door, but hopefully still with all the feels.

What do you like to talk about?

I love talking about all sorts of things:

  • books,
  • writing,
  • romantic comedy movies or TV series,
  • crafting, especially miniatures,
  • parenting,
  • how to be motivated or find time to work out,
  • work/life balance, and
  • art.

What did you want to be when you were a child?

As a child, I wanted to be a writer and a baker. I detoured to become a corporate lawyer, but watched and read romantic comedies for relaxation. I left law to pursue my dream of writing fiction full-time and getting in shape. I’m still working on getting in shape. Do you find that difficult too? And if you don’t, what’s your secret?
